FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

PERMANENT MAKEUP

Is it painful?

Some clients find the procedure uncomfortable whilst some feel nothing at all. A topical numbing agent is used for a minimum of 20 minutes before the treatment and is used throughout to ensure client comfort.

How long does it take?

Permanent makeup sessions are split in to two separate treatments. The original procedure will take 2-2.5 hours - this includes full consultation, mapping and measuring as well as pigment selection, once the client is happy the procedure will begin. The second treatment takes place 6 weeks later to perfect the shape and colour, this will take 1.5-2 hours.

What is the healing process?

The first day it is common for the area and surrounding areas to appear red and mild swelling may occur. Usually over the next 48-72 hours the pigment may become darker in colour - this is due to the blood rising to the surface. The pigment will continue to appear dark and slight scabbing will appear. It is important not to pick the area as this will affect the pigment and end result and may also open them up to infection. The healing process is around 7-14 days however around 4 weeks for the colour to fully set in. It is possible to go through a stage where the area can become very light - this is due to the body healing the area and collagen rushing to the surface as a milky substance which masks the pigment. As the collagen disperses the pigment will return.

Is the 6 week touch up necessary?

Yes, as everyone heals differently meaning the outcome is never the same. Often certain areas may not take the pigment on the first session, so it is important we reinforce the shape and colour to ensure longer lasting results. Also, within the first session this is the "template" which means when it comes to the touch up we can adjust the pigment tone, shape and thickness.

How long does it last?

It generally lasts 1-3 years with most people having an annual touch up to keep the shape and colour perfect. Everyone holds the pigment differently depending on age, skin type, lifestyle and the aftercare of the area treated.

Most commonly used on the face for anti aging, pigmentation and scarring, however, is very popular on the body to treat stretch marks.

What is "mesotherapy"?

Mesotherapy is a form of microneedling where a specific mesotherapy serum is used on the skin during the microneedling. This will be discussed in the consultation and can be personalised to your needs and concerns.

ALUMIER MD CHEMICAL PEELS

Is it painful?

There is a warming and tingling sensation to a chemical peel, the therapist is with the client at all times should the sensation become to strong for the client the therapist can immediately dull the sensation.

How long does it take?

When the client comes for their initial peel treatment time will be 90 minutes including full consultation, however when a client has regular peels they will be 60 minutes.

Is there downtime?

The client should expect redness and sometimes a tight sensation for the rest of the day and should avoid the sun for at least 7 days. The client will receive a 7 day post peel home care kit that will replenish and hydrate the skin as well as sun protection which will avoid any unnecessary contractions. The client can peel slightly however, if they follow advice from the therapist and use the post peel kit there shouldn't be excessive peeling.

How many treatments will I need?

Beautiful skin doesn't happen overnight and treatments take time to show results. A single chemical peel can provide the immediate result of bright and radiant skin; however, more significant results in treating textural issues, fine lines and inflamed acne could take up to eight weeks. Using home care products consistently and as directed to achieve optimum results. Just as you take time daily to exercise, you need to take time for you "daily skin care workout regime".

Why did I not have visible peeling after my treatment?

The success of the peel should not be judged by the amount of peeling, but by the end results that the peel will produce. The amount of peeling may vary depending on individual skin condition at the time of the peel or the depth of the peel.

What should I avoid pre-peel?

Any hair removal on the face should be done at least 7 days prior. Any use of retinol should stop at least 3 days prior.

What is the difference between the Glow peel, Radiant 30 and Radiant 20/10 and which should I choose?

The Radiant 30 peel is an alpha hydroxy acid resurfacing peel containing lactic acid to exfoliate dead skin cells, this is a great starter peel for all skin types. The Radiant 20/10 peel is a combination of lactic and salicylic acid especially good for acne prone, oily skin types. The Glow Peel combines lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol, creating a multi purpose resurfacing solution - this is the strongest peel however not always the best choice depending on your concerns. Most clients will start on either of the Radiant peels and work up to the Glow peel. Do not worry about choosing the peel as the therapist will do a thorough consultation and discuss concerns and expectations to decide the best peel to start with.

What do I use on my skin after I finish my 7 day post peel kit?

The therapist will guide and recommend a skincare program specifically for the client and their concerns to continue to improve the skin between regular peels.
